These earrings have flown to the edge of space. On May 21, 2025, the students of Earth to Sky Calculus launched them onboard a cosmic ray research balloon. All eight planets from Mercury to Neptune are in the collection! (Apologies to Pluto fans :)
 
The earrings floated through the stratosphere for almost 3 hours, while sensors inside the payload gathered radiation data for the students' monitoring program. The flight's peak altitude was 104,655 feet.  After the balloon exploded (as planned), the payload parachuted back to Earth, landing in the Inyo Mountains near Bishop, CA.
 
Each order comes with a greeting card showing the earrings in flight and telling the story of their journey to the stratosphere and back. All eight planets are included.
