The Cardinals have visited the stratosphere.

On June 1, 2018, the students of Earth to Sky Calculus launched this commemorative St. Louis Cardinals baseball onboard a cosmic ray balloon. Riding alongside radiation sensors, which the students use for atmospheric research, the ball travel 34.1 km (111,877 feet) above Earth's surface. After the balloon exploded, as planned, the ball parachuted back to Earth, landing on the verge of Coyote Flats--a high-altitude plain situated near the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains in central California.

Each baseball comes with a greeting card showing the ball in flight and telling the story of its journey to the stratosphere. Plus, you'll receive stickers depicting the ball in the stratosphere. Put them anywhere you like to create an out-of-this-world baseball display.
