Boldly going where no beer has g0ne before, this Capt. Kirk beer cozy flew to the edge of space on May 21, 2022.  It hitched a ride onboard an Earth to Sky Calculus cosmic ray research balloon.
 
At the apex of the flight, the beer cozy floated 109,888 feet above the Sierra Nevada mountains of central California, spending two hours in the stratosphere as sensors in the payload measured cosmic rays. After the balloon exploded (as planned), the payload parachuted back to Earth, landing near the Eureka Dunes at the north end of Death Valley National Park. Kirk had a wild ride, and the students got great data for their cosmic ray monitoring program.
